Rhône Trip's Art of Wine Tourism: A Blend of Passion and Precision
Originally from the South of France, François primarily worked as a tour guide in Avignon, Arles, and the Camargue. Now, following the river, he finds himself in Lyon, the capital of the Rhône.
According to him, being a guide-driver means embarking on a new adventure every day, with the responsibility of successfully completing it and ensuring clients have an excellent experience.
What excites you most about the world of wine?
Wine, to me, is a key to understanding a terroir. The world of wine offers an alternative mapping of territories.
Why did you choose this particular field?
I chose this field to create an experience, an adventure rooted in a terroir, drawing on the landscapes, the senses, and the people you meet along the way.
What's your personal approach, and how does it show in your work?
My approach is to set a framework, provide reassurance, and then allow space for the group’s synergy to unfold.
If you were a grape variety, which one would you be, and why?
Why not Cinsault? Firstly, because I grew up between Provence and Languedoc, and I’m a strong advocate for rosé!
A little anecdote?
A few years ago, during the fête de la véraison (veraison festival) in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the village’s Great Fountain was actually filled with wine, so it flowed freely all night long!
